Hepatitis A vaccination

Travelling Overseas?

Hepatitis A travel vaccination is free through your GP.

  • Hepatitis A causes liver infection. Symptoms include jaundice (yellowing of skin and eyes), fever, and stomach pain.
  • Young children often show no symptoms but can still spread the infection. Some people can become seriously unwell.
  • One jab protects you/your child for their trip and in the short term. A second jab in 6–12 months provides long-term protection.
  • Good handwashing = good protection.
  • If symptoms appear stay home, call your GP or NHS 111, and inform the school.
